Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, the Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has filed his nomination to contest the party’s Regional Secretary position.
The nomination was filed on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the NDC Regional Party Office in the Upper East Region by a representative of the aspiring candidate.
Mr Salifu’s filing marks a significant step in his bid to become the party’s next Regional Secretary as the NDC prepares for its 2026 regional executive elections.
The aspiring Regional Secretary declared his intention to contest the position earlier in October, following consultations with party stakeholders and reflection on his years of service within the party.
Mr Salifu has been involved in the NDC’s structures for more than two decades, beginning as a Branch Executive at Tindonsoe in 2006.
His subsequent positions included Deputy Constituency Youth Organiser and Constituency Secretary for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency before his appointment as the Upper East Regional Communication Officer.
Mr Salifu has cited his experience at the branch, constituency and regional levels as a foundation for his ambition to serve as Regional Secretary.
Among the priorities he has outlined is the establishment and proper equipping of constituency party offices across the region to improve administration, meetings, mobilisation and grassroots organisation.
In an earlier interview with A1 Radio, he said strengthening constituency offices would be central to his plans if elected, proposing that the facilities be equipped with computers, printers, photocopiers and adequate furniture.
The NDC’s timetable for the 2026 regional executive elections schedules the filing of nominations for October 14 and 15, with vetting expected to take place on October 16 and 17.
