German Constitution Grundgesetz includes the third sex, the IT which must be mentioned in any vacancy ad. It determines that every German has the right to choose his or her sexual identity. Loud pressure groups have achieved what Africans only look down on, seen as the madness of the white man.
As critical as this constitutional article is, it indicates the human need for self-identity. Every young man and woman growing up asks their parents about their identity, where the family comes from, the grandparents, the story behind the family the young boy or girl is born or/and raised in. As teenagers, the search for identity is imminent and critical. It goes down to the core of every human being, regardless of where the person was born or in which situation.
IVF treatment and egg and sperm donation come with advice and bylaws determining the right of a child to get answers about the biological parents or individual. During the treatment, the legal parents are trained to open up the original story to the child as early as school age to avoid future problems when the child, as a teenager, is searching for its origin.
Foster parents go through constant guidance from social workers, helping them and their foster child to form a happy and healthy family. Couples who adopt an orphan face the question of their adopted child finding its biological parents and learning about the circumstances that made them an orphan in the first place. Without knowing the individual roots of our bloodline and what comes with it, we are like a young tree in the wind with no roots to hold onto.
Self-identity is essential for healthy living as much as self-determination, the right to education, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, alongside other human rights. Yet, this fundamental right and need of any human being is hidden in the shadows of national by-laws, not prominently in their constitutions as a mandate of protection and promotion by states, nor in the UN Human Rights Charta.
The African Union declared the decade from 2026 until 2036 the Decade of Reparation following the passed motion of the UN about the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Financial assistance already given and still ongoing by whites will be relabeled as Reparation, a gesture but not a fundamental change.
Including the demand for Self-Identity as a fundamental human right in the UN Human Rights Charta would make the African Union be seen as spearheading the principles of humanity and human development.
