The Eastern Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has joined security agencies and other institutions in a health walk organised as part of activities for the 2026 Eastern Regional Expo.

The event, held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Koforidua, brought together hundreds of participants from various security agencies and public institutions.

The health walk was organised by the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) under this year’s Eastern Expo, which is being held on the theme “unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment”.

Participants included personnel from NACOC, the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prisons Service and the Ghana Police Service, as well as police recruits undergoing training at the Koforidua Police Training School.

The walk began at the Effiduase traffic light and passed through the Koforidua Prison Junction to the B. Foster traffic light.

The participants subsequently proceeded through the Total 2 and Total 1 areas before ending at the Koforidua Jackson Park, where they took part in an aerobic session.

Addressing participants after the walk, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, encouraged residents and other stakeholders to actively participate in the Eastern Expo 2026.

She also urged the public to use the expo as an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s products, culture and other resources to the international community.

The event was attended by Mrs Awatey; the Eastern Regional Commander of NACOC, PNCO Philomina Obenewaa Sackar; Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Owusu Bempah; Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye; and Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Hon. Samuel Adongo.
