Pallas Apuakasi declares bid for NDC Upper East Regional Secretary

Pallas Apuakasi has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Upper East Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), pledging to bring years of grassroots and regional-level experience to the administration of the party.

In a message to NDC members across the Upper East Region, Mr. Apuakasi said his decision was driven by a longstanding commitment to service and a desire to contribute further to the growth and organisation of the party.

“My journey has never been about titles. It has been about service,” he said.

Mr. Apuakasi said his involvement in the NDC began at the grassroots, where he served two terms as Branch Secretary before subsequently serving as a Constituency Executive Member.

He further disclosed that at the regional level, he has served for the past decade as Secretary to the Regional Vetting Committee, Regional Reconciliation Committee and Regional Disciplinary Committee.

According to him, his years of working within these structures have given him a deeper understanding of the party's internal processes and the concerns of its members.

He said the experience has taught him the importance of listening, consultation, reconciliation, fairness and respect for all members of the party.

“These years have brought me closer to the realities of our party. I have been taught the importance of listening before speaking, consulting before deciding, reconciling where there are differences, protecting the integrity of party processes, and treating every comrade with dignity and respect,” he stated.

Explaining his decision to contest, Mr. Apuakasi said he believes his extensive experience across the branch, constituency and regional structures has prepared him for the responsibilities associated with the Regional Secretary position.

“I aspire to serve as Regional Secretary because I believe my years of experience at the branch, constituency and regional levels have prepared me adequately to contribute meaningfully to the administration and organisation of our party,” he said.

He, however, stressed that his experience should not be interpreted as a claim to perfection, describing himself instead as a party member who has continued to learn through years of service.

“I do not come before you claiming perfection. I come as a comrade who has served, learned, listened and continues to learn,” he said.

Mr. Apuakasi said his political journey represents progressive involvement in the structures of the NDC, moving from Branch Secretary to Constituency Executive and subsequently to various regional committee responsibilities.

He said he was presenting his record not to elevate himself above other members but to demonstrate his readiness to accept another responsibility within the party.

“Today, I respectfully place that experience at the disposal of our party once again,” he stated.

Describing himself as “a party man, a servant of the organisation, a product of the grassroots” and “a student of experience,” Mr. Apuakasi said he was ready to continue serving the NDC.

He concluded by formally declaring his intention to contest for the Upper East Regional Secretary position and expressed his readiness to engage party members across the region.

“I look forward to sharing my vision to comrades across the region with respect, openness, humility and a spirit of togetherness,” he said.
