Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson says a clean conscience is central to the way he approaches his responsibility of managing Ghana’s public finances.

In an interview shared by TV3 Ghana, Dr Ato Forson said he remains confident in his handling of public funds and is able to sleep peacefully because he believes he has conducted himself properly in office.

“What guides me most is a clean conscience. When I go to sleep, I know I haven’t done anything wrong,” he said.

The Finance Minister maintained that he had not taken any public money and stressed that funds entrusted to him by the Ghanaian people were being handled with honesty and transparency.

“I have not taken any public funds,” he stated.

Dr Ato Forson further described the management of taxpayers’ money, government borrowing and state expenditure as a serious responsibility that must always be carried out in the interest of the country.

“Managing taxes, public borrowing and state spending is a sacred duty,” he said.
