"God did not call you to lift your shoulders!” — Dr. Godfred Andoh blasts pride among Clergy

Dr. Godfred Andoh, CEO of St. Georgina Health Care and Consultancy, has delivered a hard-hitting message to Christian ministers, warning them against pride, titles and the abuse of authority, while demanding a return to the true meaning of Christian service.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the 11th Graduation and Holy Convocation of New Life Bible College on Saturday, September 12, 2026, Dr. Andoh told the graduands and clergy that they must understand one fundamental truth: they were called to serve, not to be served.

Quoting Mark 10:45, he declared: “They must understand that they have been called to serve not to be served.”

Dr. Andoh said Jesus Christ came to earth to serve humanity and left behind a model of leadership that Christian ministers have a duty to follow.

He expressed concern about what he described as a major problem among sections of the African clergy, where some pastors allegedly make themselves lords over their congregations instead of demonstrating humility.

“This is the problem of most African clergy,” he stated.

He warned ministers: “God did not call you to lift shoulders.” According to him, Christian leaders are not supposed to “lord” themselves over their members like worldly rulers, but must lead with humility, sacrifice and love.
