SAT, 12 SEP 2026

Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating the relatives of a Ghanaian man whose body was discovered in an apartment in Berlin, Germany, so that his family can be formally notified and arrangements made for his remains.

Who Was Found
The deceased has been identified as Stephen Kofi Boamah, born on February 8, 1986, in Kumasi, Ghana. Within Berlin's Ghanaian community, he was reportedly known by the nickname "Gully." Boamah was 40 years old.

In a public statement dated September 11, 2026, the Ministry said it was seeking anyone with knowledge of Boamah's background or family connections in Ghana to come forward and assist authorities in tracing his relatives.

Why the Appeal Matters
According to the Ministry, information from the public will be used specifically to notify Boamah's next of kin and to facilitate the necessary arrangements concerning his remains a process that cannot move forward until his family has been formally identified and reached. The Ministry has asked that the appeal be shared widely, particularly among people who may have known Boamah during his time in Ghana or who are connected to him through Ghanaian community networks in Germany.

How to Help
Anyone with information about Stephen Kofi Boamah or his relatives is asked to come forward through either of the following channels:

Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Accra) Information and Public Affairs Bureau: +233 240 913 284 or +233 240 793 072, or by email at [email protected]

Ghana Mission in Berlin +49 (0) 30 547 149-0, or by email at [email protected]

The Ministry has expressed hope that members of the public, both in Ghana and within the Ghanaian diaspora in Germany, will help bring closure to this case by assisting in the search for Boamah's family.
