The military has begun demolishing structures around La Beach as part of an exercise to clear the area.
Personnel deployed to supervise the operation have instructed vendors and businesses operating within the resort to vacate the premises to enable the demolition exercise to continue.
The operation has, however, encountered resistance from the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, who confronted the military personnel at the site.
The MP questioned the decision to proceed with the demolition without prior notice to her, saying she had previously engaged the relevant authorities and had been assured that the structures would not be demolished.
Ms Sowah said she was therefore surprised to arrive at the site and find military personnel carrying out the exercise despite her engagements with government officials.

She also raised concerns about the manner in which the operation was being conducted, alleging that some of the military personnel were firing shots and wielding guns at people at the site.
The MP questioned the justification for the exercise and expressed concern about the treatment of residents and operators affected by the demolition.
“What is it, do you want to kill us, what has La done?” she asked.
