The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has urged the public not to draw conclusions about the guilt of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who has been placed under arrest to assist with its investigations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 1, 2026, the agency said Mr Baffour Awuah, who is also Senior Partner at Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, voluntarily reported to its offices at about 10 a.m. He was then arrested as investigators began their procedures.
EOCO said the investigation covers allegations including criminal conspiracy, causing financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences, among others.
The agency stressed that the inquiry is still ongoing and that no one should be presumed culpable before the investigative and judicial processes are complete.
"The public is therefore urged to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual," the statement said.
EOCO said it would follow all relevant lines of inquiry and examine the available evidence, while ensuring that everyone involved is accorded their rights under the Constitution and the law. It pledged to conduct the investigation "professionally, independently and in accordance with due process."
The agency added that it would provide further updates when appropriate and legally permissible.
