Police hunt for kidnappers of man in Assin Fosu

The Central North Regional Police Command has commenced investigations and launched a search for the abductors of 30-year-old Bismark Amoh, who was reportedly kidnapped at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

Amoh is said to have been taken captive on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and had remained in the hands of his unidentified captors for more than 48 hours at the time of the report.

His family said the abductors initially demanded GH¢45,000 for his release and gave them a 24-hour deadline to raise the money.

The situation became more alarming after the kidnappers allegedly used Amoh’s mobile phone to send videos and audio recordings to his relatives through WhatsApp. The recordings reportedly showed the victim restrained and being subjected to physical abuse while pleading with his family to secure his release.

In an effort to save his life, the family sought assistance from relatives and well-wishers and managed to raise GH¢19,500, which was transferred to the kidnappers.

The payment, however, did not result in Amoh’s release. Instead, the abductors allegedly demanded an additional GH¢30,500, increasing the total ransom to GH¢49,500.

The captors have reportedly issued another ultimatum of 8 hours and threatened to kill Amoh if the outstanding amount is not paid.

The Police Command said efforts were underway to locate the victim and arrest those responsible for the alleged abduction.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing as the Police work to establish the whereabouts of Amoh and secure his safe release.
