Police in the Central North Region have rescued a 30-year-old man, Bismark Amoh, after he was allegedly abducted at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

Bismark was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and is now receiving medical treatment following his rescue. The Police Command has meanwhile launched efforts to track down and arrest the persons believed to be behind the abduction.

According to the information available to the police, the kidnappers initially demanded GH¢45,000 from the victim’s family and gave them a 24-hour deadline to produce the money.

The situation reportedly became more disturbing after the abductors sent videos to the family through WhatsApp. In the recordings, Bismark was allegedly seen naked, with his hands, legs and neck tied, while being subjected to severe physical abuse.

He could also be heard pleading with his relatives to urgently raise the ransom to secure his release.

The suspects are said to have used Bismark’s own mobile phone to communicate with his family on WhatsApp, a move believed to have been intended to make it difficult for investigators to trace or identify them.

The family, with assistance from relatives, friends and other well-wishers, managed to raise GH¢19,500, which was subsequently paid to the kidnappers.

Despite receiving the money, the suspects allegedly failed to release Bismark. Instead, they demanded another GH¢30,500, bringing the total amount they were seeking to GH¢49,500.

The kidnappers reportedly followed the fresh demand with an eight-hour ultimatum and threatened to kill Bismark, burn his remains and destroy the phones if the additional money was not paid.

The police later intervened and successfully rescued the victim. Investigators are now working to establish the identities and whereabouts of the suspects and bring them to justice.

The Police Command has assured that additional information will be made public as the investigation progresses.
