MP welcomes pupils on my first day in school in Sissala West

Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West Constituency, has joined educators and community leaders to welcome new pupils as part of the “My First Day at School” initiative of the district.

The MP visited the Pulima and Silbelle Basic Schools, where he interacted with the pupils and staff, and encouraged the learners to take their education seriously.

At Pulima Basic School, Mr Sukparu, also a Deputy Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, shared his personal educational journey, recounting how he once studied under trees during his basic school days.

He urged the pupils not to allow their circumstances to limit their ambitions, encouraging them to work hard and aspire to become leaders and professionals in the future.

He said humble beginnings should not limit their dreams, noting that dedication to education had contributed to his own journey into public service as an MP and Deputy Minister.

At Silbelle Basic School, Mr Sukparu stressed the importance of discipline both inside and outside of the classroom.

He particularly encouraged girls at the Junior High School Three (JHS 3) level to avoid misusing mobile phones and staying focused on their studies.

He said commitment to education would help the pupils build a brighter future for themselves, their families and the Sissala West constituency.

The visit ended on a cheerful note, with the Deputy Minister distributing refreshments to the young learners as part of activities marking “My First Day at School.”

The headmaster of the school thanked the MP for taking the time to visit the pupils and teachers, describing his engagement as a source of motivation for the school community.

Mr Bening Adamu Yakubu, the Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive, led some staff of the Ghana Education Service to visit and welcome pupils to school.

The visit revealed poor attendance at some of the schools.
