Salam Mustapha withdraws from NPP National Organiser race

The National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has withdrawn from the contest for the position of National Organiser.

His withdrawal leaves seven candidates in the race ahead of the party’s national executive elections scheduled for October 3.

The remaining candidates are Ing. Kwame Prempeh, Agyenim Boateng, Archibald Gamor Korletey, Nana K, Ali Maiga Halidu, Emmanuel Korsi Bordja and Daniel Nii Kwartey Titus Glover.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9, Mustapha said his decision to withdraw was due to circumstances beyond his control.

“This decision has been a difficult one, particularly considering the encouragement, goodwill and overwhelming support I have received from Party members, delegates, colleagues and well-wishers across the country.

"However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I am unable to continue with my candidature," he said.

Mustapha said the decision did not affect his commitment to the NPP or its ideals, assuring supporters that he would continue to contribute to the party’s unity, rebuilding and electoral success.

He also said he would continue to support the party’s efforts to secure victory in the 2028 general election and make former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the next President of Ghana.

The outgoing aspirant appealed to his supporters to accept the decision in good faith and remain united in the interest of the party.

“Political positions may come and go, but our commitment to the NPP and the future of our Party must remain greater than any individual ambition,” he said.

The NPP Youth Organiser subsequently wished all candidates participating in the internal electoral process well, expressing hope that their actions and choices would strengthen the NPP and position it for future electoral success.
