The Ministry of Education has cautioned the public against fake and digitally manipulated Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips being circulated on social media.
The Ministry said some individuals are altering placement documents and falsely claiming that students’ original school placements have been changed by the government.
It said preliminary internal verification had established that some of the circulated placement slips do not correspond with records generated from the official CSSPS platform.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that these claims are false and misleading,” the Ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9.
According to the Ministry, the barcodes and QR codes on the purported placement slips do not match the placement information contained in the documents being circulated.
It added that its system and audit logs also do not support the claims that students’ placements had been changed.
The Ministry described the development as a serious attempt to undermine public confidence in the CSSPS placement process and create unnecessary confusion and anxiety among students, parents and guardians.
The matter has consequently been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for further investigation and appropriate action.
“The Ministry, therefore, urges the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified placement slips or claims on social media,” it said.
