Lets Not Allow The Regional Executives Appointments To Create Division And Animosity

One of the most crucial moments for the newly elected Regional Executive body is appointing officers to help run the Party's affairs at the regional level.

While this is a normal and constitutional exercise, if not handled with tact, fairness, and inclusiveness, it can become a source of deep division and animosity.

As a loyal and concerned member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region, I have observed with keen interest the high expectations and lobbying that characterize these appointments.

Indeed, it is natural for people to show interest, but we must not allow this process to sow seeds of discord in our Party that is working hard to rebuild after the painful setback of 2024.

Without mincing words, the 2024 election taught us a bitter lesson, and we lost not because our opponents were stronger, but because we allowed internal cracks, apathy, and disunity to weaken our front.

Basically, at a time when we need every hand on deck to rebrand and recapture power in 2028, we cannot afford another round of internal wrangling over appointments.

In view of the above subject matter, which is of great concern to our party in the Northern Region, I believe the following should be considered to ensure unity and cohesion moving forward into the 2028 elections.

Firstly, why appointments must unite, not divide us.

1. The Party Is Bigger Than Individuals: With great respect, no single individual is bigger than the NPP. So, the appointments should be based on competence, loyalty, dedication, and the ability to deliver, not on who is closest to power.

2. Reward Loyalty and Hard Work: Across the Northern Region, some people have sacrificed their time, resources, and energy for the Party even when it was not fashionable to do so. These are the people who kept the party alive, who defended the Party on radio and on social media, and who also mobilized in our Constituencies and can't be overlooked.

3. Inclusivity Is Key: The Northern Region is vast and diverse, with 18 Constituencies. So, therefore, appointments must reflect a balance of constituency representation, youth and women inclusion, and representation of our intellectual wing, TESCON. This will give a feel of sense of belonging.

4. We Need A Winning Team, Not A Faction: To have a winnable Team. The Regional Executives must appoint people who can work together as a team. What we need is not a list of loyalists to an individual, but a formidable team loyal to the NPP's cause of winning 2028.

To our respected Regional Chairman and the entire Regional Executive Committee, I make a humble appeal to you: Let consultation, merit, and unity be your guiding principles. Let us avoid the winner-takes-all mentality that breeds bitterness.

To my fellow youth and party faithful who may be appointed or disappointed, let us remember that there are many ways to serve the Party. An appointment is not the only way to contribute our quota and to put the interest of the NPP above personal interest.

Truly, the journey to 2028 starts now. And it starts with unity at the regional level. Let's not allow appointments to destroy the very bridge we need to cross to victory.
