'I assure Mahama of my unwavering loyalty' – Brogya Genfi after removal as Deputy Defence Minister

Former Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Brogya Genfi has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing him Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.

This came shortly after he was reassigned to the Presidency as part of further changes announced by President Mahama on Wednesday, August 26, with the new role taking immediate effect.

Brogya Genfi said he was particularly grateful for the confidence the President had shown in him during his tenure as Deputy Defence Minister.

“My deepest gratitude goes to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing me as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness," he wrote.

Brogya Genfi said his appreciation was also linked to the responsibility he assumed following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and seven other persons.

According to him, he held the fort for a year under the supervision of Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson following the tragedy.

Mr Brogya Genfi also pledged his continued commitment to the President and the new responsibilities entrusted to him.

“I assure the President of my unwavering loyalty and dedication in discharging my duties in this new capacity.”

The changes also saw former Labour Minister Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo moved to the Special Initiatives portfolio, while Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum was appointed Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.

The latest changes follow an earlier ministerial reshuffle announced by President Mahama on August 7, which included the movement of Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Defence Ministry.
