The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has recorded 50 purchases of nomination forms for the nine national officer positions ahead of its 2026 National Officers Elections.

The party’s National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) said the purchase and collection of nomination forms closed on Saturday, August 22, after what it described as a successful and peaceful exercise.

Filing of completed nomination forms will begin on Sunday, August 23, and end on Saturday, August 29, after which the aspirants will be subjected to a vetting process.

“The Committee is pleased to report that the nomination period has proceeded successfully and peacefully,” the NOEC said in a statement signed by its chairman, Frederick Opare-Ansah.

Five aspirants purchased forms for the National Chairperson position, including former NPP Chairman Paul Afoko, former General Secretary John Boadu, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Sammy Crabbe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

The National Vice Chairperson position attracted the highest number of aspirants, with 13 people purchasing forms.

They include Henry Nana Boakye, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mustapha Abdul-Hameed, Samuel Pyne, Richard Ahiagbah, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeeboah, Horma Miezah, Richard Oti Aboagye, Bright Esselfie Kumi and Nana Akomea.

Four aspirants each purchased forms for the General Secretary and National Treasurer positions, while eight people expressed interest in the National Organiser position.

The National Youth Organiser position attracted six aspirants, and five purchased forms for the National Nasara Organiser position.

Three people purchased forms for the National Women Organiser position, while the National Communications Director position recorded the lowest number of aspirants with two.

The party, however, cautioned that purchasing or collecting a nomination form does not automatically make an aspirant a valid candidate.

An aspirant will only become a nominee after properly filing the completed forms and required documents, subject to vetting and any applicable appeals.

Vetting to begin August 31

The vetting of nominees will take place from Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3.

The National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer aspirants will be vetted on Monday, August 31, followed by the National Vice Chairperson aspirants on Tuesday, September 1.

The National Organiser and National Youth Organiser aspirants will be vetted on Wednesday, September 2, while the National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser aspirants will go through the process on Thursday, September 3.
