The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced a 15-hour power interruption in parts of the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, August 23, to facilitate the replacement of a damaged transmission tower at Ashaiman.
The interruption, scheduled from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., will allow GRIDCo engineers and technical teams to continue work on the damaged tower along the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line.
According to GRIDCo, the tower was damaged following a tanker explosion in the area, affecting the integrity of the transmission infrastructure.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, the company said the scheduled outage was necessary to enable its technical teams to safely complete the remaining replacement works.
GRIDCo explained that the exercise would require temporary interruptions to electricity supply in some parts of the Greater Accra Region.
The company said it was working closely with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to minimise the impact of the interruption on customers and communities within the affected areas.
GRIDCo appealed to residents and electricity consumers for their patience and cooperation as the company works to restore the transmission infrastructure.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this interruption will cause and request the patience, understanding and cooperation of the public as GRIDCo works progressively to complete this critical work,” the statement said.
