The Sunyani Traditional Council (STC) has sworn in Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, as President of the Council.
Odeefour Korkor II's swearing-in followed his gazetting by the National House of Chiefs on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in accordance with the Chieftaincy Act.
Her Ladyship Jennifer Pokua Amponsah, Sunyani Circuit Court Judge, administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the chief at a colourful ceremony held at the Nana Bosoma Royal Palace in Sunyani.
The ceremony was witnessed by government officials, chiefs and queens, security agencies and members of the public.
Nana Kwaku Sarbeng Ababio, the Akwamuhene (sub-chief) and Acting President of the STC, handed over official documents to the Paramount Chief and wished him a peaceful reign.
Nana Boadi Akrofa, the Adontenhene (sub-chief) and longest-serving member of the STC, pledged the Council's dedication to remain faithful and supportive of the Paramount Chief.
In his acceptance speech, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II thanked the people of Sunyani, security agencies and the Bono Regional Peace Council for their support.
He pledged to serve the people with diligence and humility and facilitate the holistic development of the traditional area.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II urged the three royal gates of the Boahen Royal Family, occupants of the Sunyani Traditional Stool, to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity for the development of the area.
The Paramount Chief cautioned against the illegal sale of Sunyani traditional lands, warning that culprits would be sanctioned accordingly. He also advised residents against putting up structures and buildings in waterways and flood-prone areas.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II further cautioned sub-chiefs against the temptation to sell Sunyani cemetery lands or engage in or aid illegal mining, popularly known as “galamsey,” warning that perpetrators would also be sanctioned.
