NPP must learn from NDC's ability to unite despite personal differences — Afenyo-Markin

Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin has said the key difference between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lies in how effectively each party is able to rally and mobilise its members.

Speaking on Asaasepa FM, Mr Afenyo-Markin said the NDC's ability to unite quickly, despite internal disagreements, gives it an edge over the NPP.

He emphasised that unless the NPP addresses its rifts and improves how it recovers from conflicts and differences, it would be impossible to regain presidential and parliamentary power.

"The difference is, NDC is able to come together and get collective easily. I see a lot of problems among them in the Majority in Parliament because of where I sit. I really see it. However, the moment the bell is rung, they all come together as if there's no problem," the Effutu Member of Parliament (MP) explained.

He contrasted this with what he described as visible divisions within the NPP's own parliamentary ranks.

"If it were the NPP members of Parliament, everyone would see the division. The [aggrieved] member would not come around even if you whip them. That is our weakness," he said.

The lawyer and lawmaker said the party needs to address this weakness in order to convert its individual talents into collective strength.

"We need to work on these so that the individual talents we have would have that collective power to achieve [maximum] impact. And that impact is what will bring us power," he said.
