NPP Angry supporters storm NPP headquarters over Ayawaso Central electoral album controversy
TUE, 11 AUG 2026

Some aggrieved supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the Ayawaso Central Constituency on Monday, August 10, 2026, went to the party’s headquarters in Accra to demand urgent action on concerns surrounding the constituency’s electoral album.

The supporters’ arrival disrupted activities at the party’s headquarters as they sought to meet party officials and present their grievances over what they described as challenges with the electoral album.

They accused the party leadership of failing to address their concerns and demanded access to the album for clarification on issues affecting the constituency.

Security personnel initially prevented the group from entering the premises, asking them to wait while their identities and the purpose of their visit were established.

NPP Deputy General Secretary, Haruna Mohammed, explained that the security officers acted cautiously because the visit had not been anticipated.

“It was an impromptu [visit], and we didn’t know who they were, so we needed to know,” Mr Mohammed said.

He said party officials subsequently invited the leaders of the group inside for discussions, where their concerns were heard and possible solutions considered.

“We called the leaders in. We had a meeting. They were sitting in air conditioning, we provided them with water, we had a discussion.

“Their petition was just about their album, that they haven’t seen it, so they want to see it,” he said.

According to Mr Mohammed, the party’s Elections Committee has been directed to meet the supporters on Tuesday, August 11, to address outstanding concerns relating to two electoral areas cited in their petition.

He added that the party’s Electoral Affairs Committee had also been briefed on the matter.

Mr Mohammed said the supporters expressed satisfaction with the engagement and left the party headquarters after the meeting.

He explained that the outcome of Tuesday’s engagement would guide the party’s next steps in addressing the electoral concerns raised by the Ayawaso Central supporters.
