
Albert Tomi, a concerned citizen operating under the name "Truthful Pen" has filed a formal Right to Information request with the Ho West District Assembly seeking full disclosure on records relating to the proposed 24-Hour Economy Market at Tsito.
The request, submitted on August 7, 2026, was addressed to the Right to Information Officer of the Assembly by It cites the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).
According to the letter, the request is being made “in the interest of transparency, accountability, and public understanding” of the planning and suitability of the proposed project site. The 24-Hour Economy Market is expected to be a major commercial hub for the district.
Mr. Tomi is requesting six key sets of documents from the Assembly. These include the approved site plan for the market, the official survey plan showing boundaries and acreage, and the approved layout or development plan detailing the arrangement and utilization of the site.
He is also seeking documents relating to the allocation, acquisition, ownership status, or authorization of use of the land designated for the project. Additionally, the request covers any records indicating existing or proposed roads, right-of-way, access routes, easements, or restrictions affecting the land.
The sixth item on the request is for any site assessment reports, technical assessments, feasibility studies, or evaluation reports conducted regarding the selection and suitability of the proposed project site, if available.
The applicant noted that under the RTI Act, the Assembly is required to communicate a decision within 14 days of receiving the application. He further requested written notification and reasons in case an extension is needed.
Mr. Tomi stated that access to these records will “promote transparency, accountability, and public confidence in a project of significant importance to the people of Ho West.”
The Assembly is yet to respond to the request.
