Atwima Kwanwoma: Aspiring NDC Chairman Wins Praise for Rehabilitating 8km Road Network

In a striking demonstration of grassroots leadership, Mr. Solomon Jabari, an aspiring Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Atwima Kwanwoma, has earned widespread admiration after single‑handedly rehabilitating an 8‑kilometre stretch of severely damaged road.

The intervention, which has significantly improved mobility across the constituency, comes after years of deteriorating infrastructure that crippled local commerce, increased transportation costs, and frustrated residents.

A Gesture Beyond Politics

Mr. Jabari, a retired Army Officer, stressed that the costly rehabilitation project was not motivated by political ambition but by the urgent needs of the people.

“My aim in rehabilitating this road did not emanate from my interest in becoming the party Chairman,” he told our correspondent. “It stemmed from a commitment to improving the living standards of our people through an effective transportation system.”

He added that supporting the vulnerable and championing community development has always been central to his values.

For months, drivers had lamented the rising cost of vehicle maintenance, with many forced to withdraw their vehicles from the road due to the damage caused by the poor terrain. Market activities stalled, and residents faced mounting economic hardship.

Recognising the severity of the situation, Mr. Jabari deployed his own construction equipment to level the roads, transforming previously impassable routes into motorable paths.

He explained that the rehabilitation targeted areas most affected by erosion and neglect, including Brofoyedru, Nkoranza, Twedie, and Kotwi.

He advised drivers to obey road regulations, avoid drunk driving, reckless overtaking, overloading, and the use of mobile phones while driving.

“I urge all drivers to apply the road with care,” he stated.
