Supreme Court appeal in Sedina Tamakloe case is 'part of the choreography' — Nana B

The National Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, says any decision by the Attorney General to appeal the Court of Appeal's acquittal and discharge of former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu would be "part of the choreography" to secure her freedom.

He spoke to Class News' Prince Benjamin (PB) in a 10 AM interview on July 30, 2026.

The Court of Appeal overturned Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu's conviction and 10-year prison sentence Thursday morning.

Nana Boakye initially expressed doubt that the Attorney General would genuinely pursue the matter further.

"They are not going to appeal. I doubt," he said.

However, he added that even if an appeal is filed, it would be intended to create the impression that the government was dissatisfied with the Court of Appeal's ruling.

"If they appeal, it's part of the choreography," he asserted.

According to Nana Boakye, the move would be aimed at convincing the public that the government was pursuing justice.

He said the government's idea will be to appeal to the Supreme Court "so that people will see that we are working towards [justice] and we are not happy with the [Court of Appeal's decision]

"In the meantime, she is free to go but let's appeal to the Supreme Court and see."

He further alleged that the Attorney General would again mount "a relaxed and very weak defence so that again, she will be free."

The comments come after the Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
