New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Dennis Miracles Aboagye has disputed the GHS55 million figure cited by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in its public statement, insisting the matter involving him relates to GHS5.2 million.

Speaking on Asempa FM, the former Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD) boss said he was shocked after his release on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from EOCO custody to learn that the anti-graft agency had publicly linked him to investigations involving GHS55 million.

"The issue around me that I have to speak to is not even more than GHS5.2 million," he said.

According to him, the amount at the centre of the query raised by the current IMCCoD Executive Secretary, Dr Gameli Dominic Hoedoafia, is nowhere near GHS55 million.

Mr Aboagye said he was "livid, sad, and devastated" when he learnt of EOCO's public statement, which referred to a GHS55 million investigation and alleged that his former accountant, Gerald Appiah, had commenced refunds.

He said the statement brought to mind a comment he claimed the IMCCoD executive secretary had made in 2025, cautioning him to be quiet.

"If you want to shut me up, why fabricate this and put it on me? The facts are there," he said.

Mr Aboagye stressed that he had no issue accounting for his stewardship as a former public official.

"I am entirely fine with rendering an account as a former public servant," he said, adding that his concern was with how the matter had been handled publicly.

He also reiterated that he had "absolutely" no complaints about EOCO's officers or the investigation itself, apart from the contents of the agency's public statement.
