A man suspected of stealing car doors from ride-hailing vehicles has been arrested by residents at Madina Zongo Junction after he allegedly returned to the same area just hours later in an attempt to carry out another theft.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect allegedly stole five doors from Uber vehicles parked in the community at about 2:00 a.m. The stolen vehicle parts were reportedly sold shortly after the incident.
Residents said the suspect returned to the area at around 8:00 a.m., allegedly intending to steal another vehicle door. However, some community members recognised him from the earlier incident and apprehended him before he could flee.
Witnesses claimed that when confronted, the suspect admitted to the thefts and pleaded for forgiveness.
Some residents allegedly assaulted him before he was handed over to the police for further investigation.
The Ghana Police Service is expected to investigate the incident and establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged thefts.
