Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at Anfoega in the North Dayi District have rescued a driver trapped in a vehicle after it crashed into an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution pole at Anfoega-Adame Newtown.
Mr Hope Bedzrah, Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the accident involved a Hyundai Accent saloon car with registration number GW 6383-17.
He said personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station, whose premises are located directly opposite the crash scene, witnessed the incident and swiftly responded to conduct rescue operations.
Mr Bedzrah said the rescue team, led by Station Officer I Mr Franklin Soglo, successfully extricated the trapped male driver from the damaged vehicle.
Although the driver did not sustain any visible injuries, fire officers advised him to undergo a medical examination as a precautionary measure.
He said the damaged vehicle was later towed to the police station to aid investigations into the cause of the accident.
Mr Bedzrah said firefighters also managed traffic at the scene to ensure the safe and smooth movement of motorists while emergency operations were underway.
He urged drivers to adhere strictly to road traffic regulations, avoid distractions while driving, and exercise maximum caution on the roads to help reduce crashes and safeguard lives and property.
Mr Bedzrah reaffirmed the GNFS’s commitment to respond promptly to emergencies and called on the public to cooperate with emergency responders during accident situations.
