Several families have been displaced after a devastating fire swept through a 30-bedroom house at Nkawie in the Ashanti Region, destroying property estimated to be worth thousands of cedis.
The fire broke out at about 10:30 a.m. and spread rapidly through the building, leaving occupants with little time to salvage their belongings.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) stationed at Nkawie and the Komfo Anokye Fire Station responded swiftly to the emergency. Their prompt intervention brought the blaze under control and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings.
Although no casualties or injuries were reported, the fire destroyed clothing, household appliances, important documents and other personal belongings belonging to the affected families.
Residents praised the firefighters for their timely response, noting that their efforts helped avert a much larger disaster.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established. The Ghana National Fire Service has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the outbreak.
