Abofra World School has successfully held its 2026 Upper School Graduation Ceremony at its Aya Campus, with a strong call on parents to place greater emphasis on character development alongside academic excellence in raising future leaders.
The colourful and inspiring ceremony brought together parents, guardians, education stakeholders, invited guests, staff and well-wishers to celebrate Year 6 pupils transitioning to Lower Secondary and Year 9 students advancing to Upper Secondary.
Held under an atmosphere of excitement and pride, the event showcased the school's unwavering commitment to nurturing academically excellent, morally upright and socially responsible students.
The programme, which commenced promptly at 9:00 a.m., featured captivating cultural displays, music, poetry recitals, certificate presentations and inspiring speeches that highlighted the achievements, talents and creativity of the graduating students.
Proud parents and families joined teachers in celebrating the remarkable milestone in the educational journey of the graduates.
Addressing the gathering, school authorities congratulated the students for their dedication and perseverance, urging them to remain focused, disciplined and determined as they move into the next phase of their academic lives.
They reminded the graduates that graduation marks not the end of learning but the beginning of greater opportunities, higher responsibilities and fresh challenges.
Students were encouraged to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, discipline and respect that have become the hallmark of Abofra World School.
Parents and invited guests commended the institution for its consistent dedication to providing quality education while instilling strong moral values that prepare learners to thrive in an increasingly competitive and dynamic world.
Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, the Chairman for the occasion who doubles as former Director General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Professor Edward Appiah, stressed the crucial role parents play in shaping the moral and social lives of their children.
According to him, although government continues to invest in education and teachers remain committed to delivering quality instruction, parents must equally shoulder the responsibility of raising disciplined, responsible and morally upright children.
He explained that the foundation of every child's character is laid at home, where values such as honesty, respect, responsibility and discipline are first cultivated.
Professor Appiah therefore urged parents to work closely with schools in reinforcing positive values that will prepare children to become responsible citizens and transformational leaders.
He also encouraged teachers to continue serving as exemplary role models by demonstrating professionalism, integrity and discipline, noting that educators influence not only the academic success of students but also their attitudes and character.
Delivering her address, the Proprietor of Abofra World School, Madam Marian Babah-Alargi, challenged parents to be intentional in raising emotionally healthy children with strong moral foundations.
She cautioned against transferring the burdens and unresolved emotional struggles of adulthood onto children, stressing that every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy childhood in a loving, nurturing and supportive environment.
Madam Babah-Alargi encouraged parents to transmit positive societal values instead of negative experiences, urging them to raise compassionate, resilient, disciplined and respectful children.
She further advised parents to allow their children the freedom to discover and pursue the unique purpose for which God created them rather than imposing personal ambitions or unfulfilled dreams upon them.
According to her, while academic excellence creates opportunities, it is good character that sustains lasting success and meaningful leadership.
Operating under its inspiring motto, "Incipit Vita Nova... A New Life Begins," Abofra World School once again reaffirmed its reputation as one of Ghana's leading educational institutions committed to producing confident, responsible and academically outstanding learners.
The memorable ceremony ended on a joyous note as graduates celebrated with their families, teachers and friends, leaving the campus inspired, confident and ready to embrace the future with renewed determination and the belief that even greater achievements lie ahead.
