The United Party (UP) has congratulated Asanteman, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the newly enstooled Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Bonsu, following her installation as the 15th Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom.
The party said the announcement of Nana Ama Bonsu's elevation was received with "great joy and hope," and expressed confidence that her experience and leadership would contribute to the empowerment of women and young people across the country.
Nana Ama Bonsu was officially outdoored as the 15th Asantehemaa at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, July 6.
She succeeds the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, whose death in 2025 created a vacancy in one of Asanteman's highest traditional offices.
"The United Party (UP), a Party that believes in the ideals of good governance long championed by the Manhyia Palace, received the announcement of Nana Ama Bonsu, as the 15th Asantehemaa, with great joy and hope," the statement read in part.
The party described the new Asantehemaa as an accomplished educationist and expressed optimism that she would complement ongoing efforts to promote education and human development.
"As an accomplished educationist, UP expects that she will complement the effort of empowering women and youth throughout Ghana and beyond," the statement read.
The party also wished Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Ama Bonsu and the people of Asanteman success in their efforts to advance the development and cultural heritage of the Asante Kingdom.
