Harvest Chapel International to hold Hero’s Vigil for late Dr Sammy K. Nkansah on July 7

Harvest Chapel International will, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, hold a “Hero’s Departure Vigil” in honour of its devoted elder, Dr Samuel K. Nkansah, affectionately known as Elder Sammy Nkansah.

The vigil will take place on the church premises at South Tesano at 6:30pm and is expected to bring together church members, family, professional colleagues, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the life and legacy of a man described by church leadership as a pillar of faith, service, and humility.

Elder Sammy Nkansah passed on Sunday, June 7, 2026, after a short illness. He will be laid to rest on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Announcing the arrangements, the Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International, the Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor, said the service has been designed to be both reflective and celebratory, giving congregants an opportunity to pay their final respects to a man whose life embodied Christian service.

According to Rev. Odonkor, the “Hero’s Departure Vigil” will feature soul-stirring hymns, heartfelt tributes, and a pictorial recount of Elder Nkansah’s journey of faith and impact.

“There will also be special recognition of his valuable service to the church and to humanity,” Rev. Odonkor stated. “Elder Sammy Nkansah lived a life of purpose. He served God and country diligently, he served people selflessly, and he left footprints that we must continue to follow.”

Rev Odonkor added that the vigil would serve as a platform for loved ones to share testimonies on how Elder Sammy Nkansah touched lives through his counsel, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the work of God.

Church sources describe Elder Nkansah as a leader who was instrumental in several outreach and welfare initiatives of Harvest Chapel International. Colleagues recall him as a quiet but firm voice in church governance, a mentor to the youth, and a man who opened his home and resources to those in need.

The use of the term ‘Hero’s Vigil’ by the church underscores its decision to honour members whose lives reflect sacrificial service, and church leadership says Elder Nkansah fits that description perfectly.

Members of the public, particularly those whose lives were impacted by Elder Nkansah, have been invited to attend and join the church in celebrating a life that, though ended early, left a lasting imprint on the Harvest Chapel family and the wider community.

The vigil on Tuesday sets the tone for the final funeral rites scheduled for Friday, July 9, 2026.
