Former spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and National Communications Team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kwarteng, has praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its decision to replace passports lost or damaged during the June 29 floods.
The Ministry on Friday announced an expedited process to replace passports destroyed in the floods.
It says the intervention is intended to ease the burden on affected Ghanaians who lost the travel documents during the disaster.
The Ministry also asked affected persons to contact a dedicated hotline between July 3 and July 17 and provide their personal details for verification, assuring that replacement passports would be processed within a week.
Reacting to the announcement in a social media post on Friday, July 3, Mr. Kwarteng described the initiative as a commendable response to the plight of flood victims.
"Progressive intervention. Other agencies can replicate same," he wrote.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also expressed sympathy to victims of the floods.
It said the expedited replacement exercise forms part of its contribution to government's efforts to support affected citizens and accelerate recovery from the devastating floods.

Kwasi Kwarteng is making too much noise. Ghanaians should thank God that didn't happen under the NPP, else Akufo-Addo would have forced parliament to pass the "Flood Levy."
