The District Chief Executive for Offinso North, Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, has urged Ghanaians—especially the youth—to embrace discipline, responsible behaviour and respect for national values as part of efforts to build a prosperous and united country.
Speaking at this year’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at Afrancho E.M. Zion Church in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region, Hon. Acheampong said national development cannot be achieved without a collective commitment to discipline and moral conduct. He cautioned young people against social media practices that tarnish the image of their families and the nation, stressing that such behaviour undermines the values required to build the Ghana citizens aspire to.
The event, themed “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want,” brought together religious leaders, traditional authorities, government officials and residents to pray for peace, unity and national progress.
Hon. Acheampong noted that Ghana’s advancement depends not only on sound economic policies but also on the character and values of its people. He said the ongoing national value reset requires citizens to reject insults—particularly against leaders—and uphold respect, honesty and accountability in both public and private life.
He warned that the misuse of public resources and the rising culture of indiscipline continue to weaken national development efforts and must be firmly discouraged.
“The Ghana we desire can only be built when citizens demonstrate integrity, respect for authority and a commitment to the common good,” he stated.
He described the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving as a moment for Ghanaians to reflect on the moral values handed down by the nation’s forebears and renew their dedication to living by those principles.
Apostle K.Y. Newman, Founder and Leader of Jesus True Salvation Pentecost Church and Chairman of the Christian Council of Churches in the area, called on government and stakeholders to complement prayers with practical interventions to tackle youth unemployment. He urged support for initiatives that equip young people with entrepreneurial skills to boost job creation.
Representing the Chief of Afrancho, Nana Ameyaw encouraged residents to actively participate in community development initiatives, noting that collective effort and shared responsibility are essential to achieving the national vision outlined in the event’s theme.
