The Greater Accra Kusaasi Chief, Naba Billia Tiewin Alhaji Faisel Mahama Abugri, inspired students with a passionate speech and a remarkable display of cultural pride during the Tripartite Launch of the Kusaal, Likpakpaanl, and Sissali Orthographies.
In his address, the chief urged students to take pride in their mother tongue and actively support efforts to preserve and promote Kusaal. He also reiterated his call on the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to introduce Kusaal as a subject in schools beginning next academic year, describing it as a crucial step toward preserving the language for future generations.
His elegant traditional attire, which reflected the rich heritage of the Kusaasi people, also caught the attention of participants. The combination of his inspiring message and cultural appearance left a lasting impression on the students.
Immediately after the event, dozens of students rushed to take photographs with the chief, describing him as an inspiration and a proud ambassador of Kusaasi culture.
The launch of the Kusaal, Likpakpaanl, and Sissali Orthographies is expected to strengthen literacy in the three languages and support ongoing efforts to preserve Ghana's indigenous languages through education and research.
