President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed the appointment of three Deputy Comptrollers General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), elevating them from acting positions to their substantive ranks.
The appointments, announced by the Ghana Immigration Service in a press release dated June 24, 2026, are aimed at strengthening the leadership and operational effectiveness of the Service.
The newly confirmed officers are Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration Evelyn Lolonyo Lotsu, who will head the Finance and Administration Directorate; Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration Faisal Disu, who has been appointed to lead the Command Post and Operations Directorate; and Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration Philip Peter Andoh, who will oversee the Legal, Research and Monitoring Directorate.
According to the GIS, the appointments were made following recommendations by the Governing Council of the Service and with the advice of the Public Services Commission.
The statement noted that the confirmations recognise the officers' demonstrated leadership abilities, professionalism, and commitment to duty.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, congratulated the three officers on their appointments and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the growth and transformation of the Service.
He commended their dedication and professionalism, stating that their elevation would further strengthen institutional governance and enhance the Service's contribution to national security and development.
Mr. Amadu also assured the newly appointed Deputy Comptrollers General of the full support of management as they assume their new responsibilities.
The Ghana Immigration Service said the appointments form part of efforts to reinforce leadership capacity and improve the delivery of its mandate in safeguarding the country's borders and supporting national development.
