An Accra High Court has fixed July 15 for the commencement of the trial of Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni.
The trial date was set after the Court and the parties completed the Case Management Conference (CMC), paving the way for substantive proceedings to begin.
The Court also ordered the State to release all electronic devices belonging to the accused persons within 14 days.
The order followed an application by counsel for Faiza Seidu Wuni, Mr Augustine Obuor, who argued that the prosecution had concluded the CMC without making any reference to electronic gadgets seized from his client, including mobile phones and laptops. He therefore contended that the items should be returned.
Counsel for Aludiba, Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, informed the Court that his client's mobile phones and laptops also remained in the custody of the State and requested their release.
Responding to the application, Deputy Attorney-General Dr Justice Srem-Sai did not oppose the request but explained that the devices had not yet been released by the Forensic Laboratory.
He noted that even in the absence of a court order, the gadgets would be returned to the accused persons in due course.
Earlier, Mr Dame told the Court that he had filed a request on June 11, 2026, seeking access to 69 documents in the possession of the prosecution.
According to him, the documents are necessary to enable the defence to adequately prepare for trial.
Aludiba and his wife are facing 20 charges, including stealing, defrauding by false pretences, abuse of public office, wilfully causing financial loss to the State, dishonestly receiving and money laundering.
The prosecution alleges that the two accused persons stole GH¢78 million from the State.
However, both Aludiba and Faiza Seidu Wuni have denied all the charges and are currently on bail pending the commencement of the trial.
