Tema Police arrest six over warehouse robberies, recover stolen goods

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested six persons in connection with two major warehouse robberies that occurred in Tema and Kpone between May and June 2026, resulting in the theft of fertilizers and food products valued at hundreds of thousands of cedis.

According to police, the first incident took place on May 25, 2026, when armed robbers attacked a security guard at a fertilizer warehouse in Kpone and made away with 751 bags of 50kg organic fertilizer worth GH¢431,825.

Less than a month later, on June 14, armed men reportedly stormed Mummy's Recipe Warehouse in Tema Community One, overpowered security personnel, and stole approximately 2,000 bags of Aaba Rice along with other food items.

Following intelligence gathering and investigations, police tracked some of the stolen goods to warehouses within the Tema area and identified a number of suspects believed to be linked to the robberies.

A special operation carried out on June 16 led to the arrest of Akala Kudus, Shaibu Dauda, Abdul Rahman Moro, Giya Hudu, Razak Seidu, and Francis Ayinsabga.

Police recovered 717 bags of Aaba Rice believed to have been stolen from Mummy's Recipe Warehouse, as well as 600 bags of fertilizer linked to the Kpone robbery. The recovered items have been secured as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts continue to apprehend other individuals believed to have been involved in the crimes and recover the remaining stolen items.

The Tema Regional Police Command has urged businesses to strengthen security measures around their premises and encouraged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
