
A suspected thief reportedly suffered severe beatings after he was allegedly caught stealing from a work site at Kyebi Amanfrom in the Eastern Region.
According to reports, the 24-year-old suspect was apprehended shortly after the alleged theft took place at the site, triggering anger among a group of local young men popularly known in the area as “area boys.”
Eyewitnesses say the youths confronted the suspect and subjected him to intense lashes and beatings before eventually restraining him. The incident attracted a large crowd of residents who gathered at the scene as the situation unfolded.
Videos and photos circulating online show the suspect being whipped repeatedly while some residents looked on.
The angry youths claimed that theft cases within the community have become increasingly common, leaving many residents frustrated and worried about insecurity in the area.
According to them, repeated theft incidents at homes and work sites have pushed some community members to take matters into their own hands.
