
The Education Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has pledged government’s support for the construction of an ultra-modern Senior High School at Essuowin in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
According to the Minister, he will ask the Ghana Education Trust Fund, GETFund, to provide financial support for the school project.
The ultra-modern new SHS is being constructed by the Chief of Essuowin, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V, with support from the community and other stakeholders.
The school, upon completion, will become one of only three SHSs in the entire Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
The renowned chief has released GH¢500,000, 25-acre land and 10,000 concrete blocks for the project already.
Speaking on behalf of the Education Minister at a sod-cutting ceremony held on April 17, 2026 at Essuowin, the Director General for Pre-Tertiary Education, Nana Baffour Awuah, said the Education Ministry, through GETFund, will support the project.
“The Education Minister has asked me to tell the community to always keep him posted on the progress of the project, as he is fully ready to help this project,” he said.
“He has asked me to tell you, he will let GETFund provide financial support to this important project,” he added.
The Minister commended the community’s move to provide quality education to youth in the area.
He underscored the importance of access to quality education, calling on all stakeholders to support the project.
