The Cyber Security Department of the Bono Regional Police Command has invited Mr Abubakar Yakubu, the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for questioning.
“As per their request, I am required to assist them in their investigations” Mr Yakubu, popularly known in the political space as 'Baba Amando,” told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Sunyani.
He said he was expected to arrive at the regional Police command in Sunyani around 1000 hours on Monday April 13, 2026, stressing that: “Serving the NPP and Ghana is a calling that I am highly honoured to fulfill.”
Mr Yakubu stated that: “Let's continue to engage in discourse and defend our nation regardless of the potential consequences.
Our ancestors sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of freedom, and we must remain resolute in our commitment to safeguarding the legacy they bequeathed upon us.”
He indicated that: “The memory of our ancestors serves as a constant reminder of the importance of vigilance and perseverance and my pen and voice are indeed my most potent tools, and I will not yield to intimidation or be coerced into surrendering my constitutional rights.”
Mr Yakubu said that the truth would ultimately prevail, adding that: “We require a nation where individuals can express their opinions freely without fear of political intimidation or persecution.”
He said freedom of speech was constitutionally protected and not subject to restrictions, urging that: “We must consistently uphold the laws of our country, and I will continue advocating the preservation of my constitutional rights regardless of the consequences.”
