Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has held talks with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, The Rt Hon Yvette Cooper, on strengthening relations between Ghana and the UK.
Speaking after the meeting, Ablakwa described the discussions as productive and wide-ranging.
“Our discussions were exceptionally fruitful and substantive,” he said.
“We explored new avenues to expand trade, which has already increased by 10 percent, and create markets for Ghanaian and UK businesses.”
The meeting also focused on initiatives aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs and deepening cooperation in the areas of security and counterterrorism.
Both sides further confirmed plans to organise a major investment summit in May 2026 under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama.
The summit is expected to build on existing progress in bilateral relations while promoting strategic partnerships between Ghanaian and British businesses.
“Ghana and the UK remain committed to solidifying our strategic alliance,” Ablakwa added.
