Ayawaso East by-election: Come out and vote; be part of the decision-making — Baba Jamal urges

National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East by-election, Baba Jamal, has called on constituents to actively participate in the polls to ensure a fair outcome.

The by-election on Tuesday, March 3, follows the death of the area’s Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, on January 4, 2026.

Five candidates are contesting the vacant seat, including NDC’s Baba Jamal and the New Patriotic Party’s Baba Ali Yusif.

After casting his vote at the Alhaji Iddrisu House 2 polling station, Baba Jamal expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the electoral process so far.

“So far, I’ve been to several polling stations. The process has been very, very peaceful. We commend the police for taking good care of the process,” he said.

He also encouraged voters who have not yet cast their votes to take part in deciding the constituency’s leadership.

“I encourage people who are out there to come out and vote, be part of the decision. Don’t wait for others to determine for you—be part of the decision,” Baba Jamal noted.

The candidate appealed for calm and law-abiding behavior among supporters, stressing that peaceful participation is key to upholding democratic values in the constituency.
