Police at Fomena under the Ashanti South Regional Police Command have arrested four suspects in connection with a robbery attack on an okada rider earlier this month.
The victim, who sustained a machete wound to his left toe, was returning from Old Ayaase after dropping off a passenger when he was ambushed.
The assailants, reportedly about ten tricycle riders, had blocked the road with their vehicles and other objects before attacking him and stealing his motorbike.
In a statement released on Saturday, February 28, the police noted that Acting on the complaint, officers moved quickly to apprehend the suspects.
“Officers arrested suspects Adom Peter, Abdul Zakari, Andy Benjamin and one juvenile offender within Fomena township the same day to assist with investigations,” the police statement said in part.
During the operation, the authorities recovered the victim’s Haojin motorbike, a machete, a tricycle machine, and its ignition keys.
The Command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged “residents to volunteer timely information to support crime prevention efforts.”
