Cyber Security Authority to open four zonal offices to fight cybercrime

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has announced plans to establish four zonal offices to strengthen the fight against cybercrime and improve public awareness.

The new offices, to be set up in Kumasi, Ho, Cape Coast, and Tamale, will oversee cybersecurity operations within the middle, coastal, eastern, and northern zones, with plans to expand coverage nationwide.

Speaking at a three-day Functional Leads Retreat in Aburi, Eastern Region, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, stressed the government’s recognition of cybersecurity as a cornerstone of the digital economy, particularly amid rising cybercrime incidents. He explained that the initiative forms part of a national strategy to boost awareness and clamp down on cybercrime syndicates. The Minister also urged CSA staff to remain committed to the Authority’s mandate, assuring them of improved working conditions.

The CSA Director-General, Mr Divine Selase Agbeti, outlined the Authority’s strategic vision, “Leading Africa in Cybersecurity Excellence (LACE),” and encouraged staff to lead with integrity, purpose, and professionalism.

As part of the retreat, participants received training in Appreciative Inquiry Leadership and Public Financial Management to enhance institutional effectiveness and leadership capacity.

The establishment of zonal offices underscores the government’s renewed focus on building resilient cybersecurity systems to protect citizens, institutions, and the digital economy.
