GoldBod suspends Dominic Bonsu Ventures' gold trading licence, secures bench warrant to arrest proprietor

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has suspended the gold trading licence of Dominic Bonsu Ventures with immediate effect over alleged breaches of its licence conditions and the Board's trading directives.

The Board said it has also initiated enforcement proceedings against the company and is seeking the arrest of its proprietor in connection with the alleged violations.

The action forms part of GoldBod's efforts to enforce compliance with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), and maintain the integrity of the country's gold trading sector.

"The suspension has been imposed following the determination by the GoldBod that Dominic Bonsu Ventures has breached the terms and conditions of its licence as well as the trading Directives issued by the GoldBod, contrary to the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140)," the Board said in a compliance notice issued on Friday, July 24.

According to GoldBod, the High Court in Accra has, upon its application, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the proprietor of Dominic Bonsu Ventures to facilitate enforcement proceedings and related criminal processes.

The Board said it is working closely with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to execute the warrant.

As a result of the suspension, Dominic Bonsu Ventures has been barred from engaging in the purchase, sale, aggregation, transportation or any other transaction involving gold until further notice.

GoldBod further directed all licensed gold buyers, aggregators, self-financing aggregators and miners to immediately cease all commercial dealings with the company.

"Any person or entity found facilitating, assisting, or engaging in gold transactions with Dominic Bonsu Ventures during the period of suspension shall be liable to the appropriate enforcement and regulatory measures under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140)," the statement cautioned.
