Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, a former New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency, has been remanded in custody in the United States after being charged in connection with an alleged domestic stabbing involving his wife.
The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of Saturday, 17 January 2026, at a residence on Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, according to police and court documents.
Police said officers responded to a distress call around 10:00 a.m. and found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds following what was described as a domestic dispute. Emergency responders transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition. Authorities stated that there was no continuing threat to the public.
Court records indicate that Nortey, who is 41 and resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy. Bail was denied due to the seriousness of the alleged offences. He is facing charges including attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Nortey is currently being held at the Dauphin County Prison and is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on 26 January 2026. The hearing will determine whether prosecutors have sufficient evidence to proceed to a full trial.
Nortey previously gained public attention in Ghana as an NPP candidate who contested the Klottey Korle parliamentary seat in past elections but did not secure victory. News of his arrest and the nature of the charges has sparked strong reactions among family members and within political circles, with calls for justice and for due legal process to be followed.
As of the time of reporting, neither Nortey nor his legal representatives have issued a public statement on the allegations. Investigations are ongoing as the case moves through the United States legal system.
