Don’t engage anyone claiming to be from EPA without proper credentials — Authority cautions

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has issued a caution to the public over individuals impersonating its officials to defraud businesses and institutions.

In a public notice issued on Monday, January 26, the EPA cautioned that some people have been visiting business premises, falsely presenting themselves as field officers conducting compliance or enforcement checks.

The Authority described the practice as “fraudulent” and said it undermines public trust in its operations.

According to the notice, genuine EPA officials on official duty always carry staff identification cards, official letters of introduction, branded EPA vehicles, and reflective vests.

The public is advised to verify these credentials before granting access, providing information, or making any payments.

“Please note that EPA field officers conducting compliance, enforcement, or monitoring activities will never visit any facility without proper identification,” the statement emphasized.

The Authority urged companies and individuals to remain vigilant and verify anyone claiming to represent the EPA.

“Don’t engage anyone claiming to be from EPA without proper credentials,” the notice reiterated.

The Authority called on the public to report any suspicious activities to protect both businesses and the integrity of environmental regulatory operations in Ghana.
