Let's Continue To Uphold And Protect The Internal Democratic Spirit Of The NPP

Intra-party competitions offer political actors and party members multiple avenues for learning, alongside strengthening the underpinnings of our democratic principles and values.

All active political Parties engaged in an internal contest to choose officers from the base to the top through a healthy competition.

A competition based on ideas and a show of unique leadership through the engagement of party members with voting rights to choose who leads in any position.

This serves as an opportunity for Party members (delegates) to scrutinize and ask relevant questions based on the capabilities of those who put themselves up to be elected as officers.

In all these, leadership plays a pivotal role despite the messages or policy directions of individuals vying to lead as Party executives and Presidential Hopefuls.

The essence of this article stems from what I have observed and learned, and also assesses the commentary made by our beloved Party members and stalwarts.

In fact, I have mixed feelings about the way we have carried ourselves as a Party ever since we lost power to the NDC and the opportunity to reorganise, rebuild, and bounce back stronger.

The mixed feelings largely depend on how some people developed the penchant to use the process of selecting our Flagbearer as a tool to denigrate, malign, and use disparaging remarks on others.

Realistically, a contest that should have been on issues confronting our Party, and a campaign based on issues have turned out to be an avenue for some people to use harsh and demeaning remarks on others.

I have learned a lot from what is currently going on, and my disappointment has to do with the people I revered in the past who have sunk so low by using tribal, religious sentiments as bases to advance their arguments.

This particular dangerous political campaign caught my eye as an upcoming political actor, and it serves the party no good if it continues after the January 31 Flagbearer race.

Unfortunately, some people are so desperate to the extent that they want to use all forms of shenanigans to deceive the party delegates in the upcoming contest.

In the end, what do we stand to gain in a contest that should primarily be focused on what the Flagbearer Hopefuls have to offer per their individual strength, leadership acumen, and well-convincing messages to beautify our internal democracy?

As a Party, what lies ahead of us goes beyond this Flagbearer race, and we must come to the realization of the reality and put a stop to some of these trivial matters.

Simply put, let's not deceive ourselves, who deserves to lead our Party is known and it's incumbent on us to protect and guard our tongues not to make comments that are injurious to the unity of our Party.

To summarize, let's continue to guide, abide by, and defend the Constitution of our Party and hold in high esteem the core values of our Party moving forward.

May the Almighty Allah continue to grant us wisdom to defend, promote, and advance arguments that will solidify the image of the NPP.

We shall bounce back stronger!
