The government of Ghana has settled a US$709 million Eurobond obligation ahead of schedule, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced.
The payment was made on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, as part of the country's ongoing debt restructuring programme.
“The Ministry of Finance has successfully settled a US$709 million Eurobond obligation on 30th December 2025, ahead of its due date,” Dr. Ato Forson said in a social media post on Wednesday.
The minister explained that the latest payment brings Ghana’s total Eurobond payments in 2025 to about US$1.4 billion, in line with commitments under the restructuring memorandum.
He said the settlement reflects the government’s resolve to honour its obligations despite prevailing fiscal pressures.
“The timely settlement reaffirms Ghana’s credibility as a sovereign borrower and underscores government’s commitment to restoring investor confidence through transparent, predictable, and disciplined debt-service practices,” Dr Ato Forson stated.
He added that the government will build on the progress by intensifying reforms in domestic revenue mobilisation, public financial management and public debt management.
The minister further appealed to Ghanaians for continued support as the government plans to roll out further economic reforms in the coming year.
