Firefighters from the Ashaiman Fire Station reached the scene at nine minutes past nine in the morning after receiving a distress call. The intensity of the fire required reinforcement from the Tema Motorway and Tema Metro Fire Stations.
By ten o’clock the teams had contained the fire and managed to save eleven rooms and five stores in the building. Three rooms and their contents were completely destroyed and two others suffered partial damage.
No injuries were recorded. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.
